Unlike opioids, our technology aims to achieve pain relief without the detrimental side effects of addiction and respiratory depression that plague current users of opioid-based medications. Chronic pain is a debilitating condition that affects up to 20% of adults and represents one of the most serious health challenges facing society. It is a major cause of lost productivity and substantially reduces quality of life in both adults and children and creates staggering health care costs. Current opioid-based medications have inherent problems of serious side-effects and addiction. However, Zymedyne has discovered a non-opioid based, proprietary mechanism that disrupts the pain pathway and has shown to provide the same level of relief, without the problems that plague current opioid-based and other pain medications.
